Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had some footage go viral and his team and fans have to be concerned. The young superstar was filmed on a gorgeous looking beach somewhere playing a game of pickup beach football with some friends.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with Lamar Jackson wanting to have fun with his friends, though we’ve seen athletes lose years of their careers in games like this all the time. The issue comes toward the end of the footage when a sprinting Jackson is tackled into the water and over the top of a Wave-Runner into shallow water.

The quarterback was unhurt, but this is just a stupid risk that the Ravens and their fans can’t like to see. Competition is fine and you want a guy who plays hard and wants to win even in a silly pick-up game, but some things are just over the line when seasons and millions of dollars are at stake.

Thanks Lamar Jackson, but yes! We do sort of wish it would change you just a bit. We really like watching you play, you do things on the field that not many others have ever been capable of and we don’t want to see that end too soon. Your numbers — 3,127 passing yards with 36 touchdown passes along with 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns rushing — just don’t happen every season, and we’d like to see you do even better next year. If there is a next year.

Next time you’re on the beach, just play some auto-QB with no blitzing, no one will make fun of you. Work more on honing those pocket skills and less on the Johnny Utah impression.
