The Russell Westbrook in Los Angeles experiment appears all but over.

Russell Westbrook was traded from Washington to L.A. this past offseason in the multi-team deal that saw Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and Spencer Dinwiddie land in DC.

The Lakers have lost six of their last seven games and sit at ninth place in the Western Conference. The Lakers decided not to move him before the deadline, and now the reports are both Westbrook and the Lakers are heading towards a breakup.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the star point guard and the Lakers’ front office have ‘mutual interest’ in finding Westbrook a new home in the trade market over the summer, as he is still under contract through next season.

“In any case, there is mutual interest in finding Westbrook a new home this summer, sources said.”

Russell Westbrook has fallen far short of expectations, but statistically speaking is putting up good numbers.

Westbrook is scoring 18.1 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 7.3 rpg while shooting 43.2% from the field.

Probably best for Westbrook to move on, at least go to a team that will appreciate how hard he plays.
