Another Kyrie Irving report on his return to the court.

There is reportedly “renewed optimism” within the Brooklyn Nets that Kyrie Irving will play this season.

Shams Charania and Stadium reported today that Kyrie and Kevin Durant have been talking a bunch in recent weeks, leading to “an increased level of enthusiasm between the two superstars.”

Irving has not played this season because he has refused to be vaccinated for COVID-19.

New York City requires any person entering an indoor building like an arena to have at least one vaccination shot. The city will require full vaccination beginning Dec. 27.

New York City mayor-elect Eric Adams says he has no plans on changing the city’s vaccine mandate.

That means Irving needs to be either get vaccinated, or the Nets need to change their stance and allow him to play in road games.

Hard to imagine Kyrie getting vaccinated at this point. We will see how this plays out, but I’m not counting on seeing Kyrie back on the court anytime soon.
