Kyrie Irving is back!

Well, sort of.

After it was announced that the Nets were in talks with Irving about a potential return to the lineup, the unvaccinated point guard took to Instagram to reveal a cryptic video of himself lacing up the basketball shoes.

On Friday afternoon, the Kyrie Irving rumors became official.

The Nets guard will be brought back to the team. But because New York still has not lifted their vaccine mandate, he will only be able to compete with the team during road games.

Adrian Wojnarowski would go on to report that just because a plan is in place, doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see Kyrie Irving back on the floor right away.

To me, bringing Kyrie Irving back for half of the games feels a little forced.

The Nets’ whole stance on why they were shutting Kyrie down was that he was only going to become a distraction if he’s not able to play every game with the team.

But, I guess the team just felt that they win in dire-enough straits to need Kyrie’s services for some games right away. After all, they will now be allowed to cut back on some of Kevin Durant’s minutes being as Irving gives them another guy who can take over the offense for a long period of time.

Either way, the media circus will now be involved in every game Kyrie Irving plays in going forward.

Should be fun.
