To No One’s Surprise Kyrie Irving Won’t Get Vaccinated And Might Have To Miss Games

Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving finally breaks his silence on his thought process when it comes to the COVID vaccine

Kyrie Irving is back to being a headache for the Brooklyn Nets organization with the season right around the corner.

Just last season, Kyrie took an unannounced hiatus from the team to (I guess) reflect on the happenings following the Capitol Building riots.

And now, it’s being reported that Kyrie Irving will not get vaccinated for COVID.

While Kyrie Irving is far from the only prominent athlete who has refused the vaccine, his situation is a bit unique in that it might keep him sidelined for games.

The Barclay Center (where the Nets play their homes games) is under the new New York vaccine mandate which requires all employees to be fully vaccinated for the virus.

If the season were to start today, Kyrie Irving would likely not be allowed to participate in home games.

“Regarding if they could play today, I can’t comment on who could play and so forth. There would obviously be a couple people missing from that picture,”  Nets GM Sean Marks said, via Fox News. “I won’t get into who it is, but we feel confident in the following several days before camp everybody would be allowed to participate and so forth.”

With Nets Training Camp set to open next week, I’m sure we’ll hear more about the Kyrie Irving situation.

I do find it a little hard to believe that any Nets or Knicks player who isn’t vaccinated will actually have to sit out. But we’ll have to wait and see.
