Kyrie Irving Left The Nets’ Team Group Chat After Rumors Of His Pitch For A New League Leaked To The Media

PREVIOUSLY: Nets Players Deny Proposal Of The “Kyrie Irving Paper Company League”

Outkick – On Tuesday night, Twitter had a lot of fun with the idea, first reported by Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, that Kyrie Irving suggested that players should start their own league.

According to Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, this leak (which, after several hours of its spread, Bondy clarified was not in direct response to the Orlando bubble) prompted Kyrie to exit the Nets’ group chat.

Here are the tweets from B/R’s Taylor Rooks on Kyrie Irving’s group text drama:

How I want to imagine Kyrie Irving leaving the group chat went down:

How it probably actually went:

Kyrie is much more of the “faint bit of disgust and betrayal” type. Probably even when you don’t actally do anything wrong.

But obviously things are not looking great for the Nets’ prospects in the bubble. No matter what happens, they won’t have Kevin Durant. It seems decently possible they also don’t have Kyrie Irving. And, if they do have Kyrie play, he’ll be in his most “Let’s burn this damn thing to the ground” mood even more than usual. It’ll be weeks of Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and the gang standing in corners while Kyrie plays like he did in the playoffs versus Milwaukee last season with joyless (and possibly ineffective) hero ball.

I’m praying for the collective sanity of the Nets as they prepare to enter the bubble with the team chemistry of children eating dinner with shouting parents on the cusp of a divorce. Disney World is not going to be the happiest place on Earth for those poor souls.
