Kevin Love responded to Kyrie Irving’s comments regarding the NBA media when he announced he’s shunning the media for the upcoming season.

“I think that calling anybody a pawn is a sure sign of disrespect,” Love said to reporters. “I understand where Kyrie is coming from in trying to better a number of people’s lives, but I’m just not a divisive person. So that’s where I stand on that.”

According to the current collective bargaining agreement, its is a requirement to talk to the media.

Kyrie announced he is not talking to the media for the entire NBA season, stating on Instagram, “I do not talk to pawns. My attention is worth more.” Irving and the Nets were fined $25,000 after his comments.

“To call you guys or anybody pawns, I’ve just always taken Flip’s words into account. That everybody has a part to play,” Love continued with reporters. “This is your guys’ livelihood. I’m thankful we’re all working and that you guys are all working. I think that goes without saying right now.”
