Kenny Smith Shares His Advice For Zion Williamson: ‘Eat Less’

The New Orleans Pelicans were trending after refusing to mention Zion Williamson in their season ticket email sent out about plans for next season

Kenny “The Jet” Smith is weighing in on the Zion Williamson debacle.

The Pelicans big man has been heavily scrutinized for showing up to the team fat and out of shape during the early going of his career.

When Smith was asked about Zion’s weight issues, he shared some advice. Mainly, Kenny Smith just thinks Zion Williamson needs to put down the fork sometimes.

“The easiest part is, he’ll figure out how to eat less,” Smith told TMZ. “It’s not hard, when it’s your profession. He puts the hours in to be a great basketball player. He’ll figure out those hours that he needs to keep his body right. It’s the same thing. It’s the same commitment. It’s not hard. Just eat less. It’s not hard at all for a guy who has that kind of discipline to be that great a player.”

Kenny Smith would go on to say that he’s confident Zion Williamson will figure out a way to control his weight going forward.

“Every player in their career is going to get hurt at some point,” he said. “In that time you gotta figure out how to stay in shape and stay in a basketball body. Obviously, he’s healing, but he’s not ready to play.”

Kenny Smith’s comments come after Charles Barkley made a joke about Zion Williamson’s eating habits last week.

“It look[s] like me and Shaq had a baby,” Barkley said, adding that Williamson is “eating good in New Orleans.”

While Kenny Smith might not have been as hard on Zion Williamson, it seems like a lot of people around the NBA are fully concerned that the weight needs to be managed.
