There’s been much ado about the NBA bubble recently after Clippers vet Lou Williams was busted getting wings at Atlanta strip club Magic City during his stint back in society. And with ESPN needing to fill countless hours of air time, Kendrick Perkins has chimed in on the matter and threw Lou under the bus compared to NBA golden child Zion Williamson relative to their bubble departures:
It’s disturbing when a Rookie in Zion Williamson can act more Mature than NBA vet Lou Williams!!! https://t.co/FlWgDBEXRU

The reigning Sixth Man of the Year wasted no time returning verbal fire on Kendrick Perkins and pointed out some of the hypocrisy of Perk with his cushy new TV role:
NBA is back and you can get your first month of Awesemo+ NBA for 50% off when you use promo code SIDEACTIONNBA at checkout. That’s only $25 for 31 days of Awesemo’s leading NBA DFS projections, ownership projections, Boom/Bust tool, & more! You better hurry because this offer is only valid thru Saturday, August 1!
15 years in this business and the most dirt you have on my name is stopping to get hot wings during a pandemic. Perk. Shut up. And stop laughing and saying it’s just tv when you run into me too. https://t.co/2xnCpG9I1J

But I digress. I went home to see a man off to his final resting place that was a giant in my life. I don’t want that to get lost in all this attention. So again, LONG LIVE THE GREAT PAUL WILLIAMS SR. back to my quarantine so I can join the guys soon. Peace

People heal in a variety of different ways. And if Lou needed to blow off some steam with chicken wings and nudity amidst seeing off his grandfather, I don’t think you can begrudge him that. It’s a tough look to get spotted at an infamous strip club — especially when compared to the aforementioned Zion Williamson getting tested daily and being able to reenter the bubble after 48 hours of quarantine compared to LouWill’s required 10 days.
But in sports, there’s often more carte blanche given to a veteran, especially with the Clippers mostly locked into their playoff seed. The Pelicans need Zion for these seeding games a lot more than the Clippers will need Lou, a guy whose seeding games are roughly the equivalent of a high school senior who already knows where he’ll go to college. A vet like Kendrick Perkins knows that, and yet he still takes these soapbox stances designed to make him look good at ESPN.
Players know the real ones from the guys doing shtick, and Perk seems like he’s spending a lot of days losing the respect of the guys who used to appreciate him as part of the NBA fraternity. In this particular scenario, Team Lou is not just Lou Williams’ social media handle, but a way of life. As for Kendrick Perkins?
