Justin Fields Meets The Chicago Gunshot Survivor Who Didn’t Want To Die Before Seeing The QB Play For The Bears

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields meets Scott Morrow, the Chicago gunshot victim who didn't want to die before watching him play

Chicago Bears fans everywhere were on cloud nine after the team traded up in the NFL Draft in order to select quarterback Justin Fields this offseason. But perhaps no Chicagoan received more inspiration from the aggressive move than Scott Morrow.

Morrow was randomly shot when walking down the street, and suffered from multiple different injuries to his spleen, kidney , stomach, pancreas and abdomen.

When Scott Morrow was going through the early stages of his treatment, he found motivation in thinking about watching Justin Fields play for the Bears.

“Within a couple moments, I thought well, I’m 41, pretty much all of Chicago has gone our whole lives without even having great prospects for a franchise quarterback, I can’t die before seeing Justin Fields take the field,” Morrow said on 670 The Score. “I don’t plan to die before he’s a Hall of Famer.”

When Justin Fields heard about Scott Morrow’s story, he was quick to set up a meet and greet.

“Just met Bears rookie QB and future Hall of Famer @justnfields(as well as his lovely parents)! I can’t believe they came out to to visit a little ol’ gunshot victim. Bear effing down!  Thank you,” Morrow wrote on Twitter.

The Scott Morrow story is going to just continue the love affair that the city of Chicago already has with Justin Fields.

The young QB has taken the overwhelming support in stride, too. And he fully expects to be great in the NFL.

While the Bears are currently planning on starting Andy Dalton over Fields Week One, it would surprise me if we didn’t see Justin Fields take over under center at some point during the season.
