During Wednesday’s Cardinals-White Sox game, Red Birds manager Mike Shildt was ejected, and threw a whole fit, after reliever Giovanny Gallegos was asked to wear another hat because of speculation that he had a foreign substance on his original cap.

In wake of the whole situation, former A’s pitcher Dallas Braden and Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson had a wild idea…just stop cheating.

After Braden would go on to bring up the inconsistencies from umpires when they enforce the vague rules on foreign substances, Donaldson made another claim. The slugger says he has an ‘entire catalog’ on pitchers cheating, and he plans on releasing it.

I sincerely hope Josh Donaldson follows through with this threat. Every MLB fan wants to see the ball put in play more. A big hindrance to the efforts by the MLB to cut down on strikeouts is how many pitchers use an extra substance to add more spin on the ball.

Before we talk about pushing the mound back, eliminating the shift, etc. the MLB should get a grip (no pun intended) on pitchers cheating with foreign substances.
