Jose Mourinho Throws Massive Shade At Liverpool On Seven Year Anniversary Of Infamous Steven Gerrard Slip Game

Jose Mourinho has sent a strong reminder to Liverpool fans on what happened seven years ago on this day.

In 2014, Liverpool was making a run at the Premier League title, and had Mourinho’s Chelsea team in their way of making a real push. They ended up losing, but it was how Liverpool lost that leaves fans sick to this day.

Late in the first half, Demba Ba scored after Liverpool star Steven Gerrard slipped, giving him a wide open path to the goal.

Chelsea would go on to win the game 2-0.

As today marks the seven-year anniversary of the infamous slip, Jose Mourinho took to Instagram to savagely troll the Reds.

Liverpool would end up finishing second to Manchester City that season after following the infamous ‘slip’ game with a disappointing 3-3 draw against Crystal Palace.

Since then, Steven Gerrard has opened up on how hard he took that loss against Chelsea seven years ago today. Here’s what Gerrard said in his 2015 memoir, “My Story”.

“I sat in the back of the car and felt the tears rolling down my face. I hadn’t cried for years but, on the way home, I couldn’t stop,” he wrote via Liverpool Echo.

“The tears kept coming. I can’t even tell you if the streets were thick with traffic or as empty as I was on the inside. It was killing me.

“I felt numb, like I had lost someone in my family. It was as if my whole quarter of a century at this football club poured out of me.

“I did not even try to stem the silent tears as the events of the afternoon played over and over again in my head.”

While Steven Gerrard probably still has a hard time getting over that fateful day in 2014, Jose Mourinho has no problem making a mockery out of it.
