Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares is drawing concerns from the entire NHL community after he took a knee to the head and had to be stretchered off the ice during the game against the Canadiens on Thursday night.

After the game, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed that Tavares was receiving tests in the hospital.

On Friday, the team announced that Tavares was released from the hospital but will remain out ‘indefinitely.’ As fans swarmed social media to share thoughts and prayers for the Leafs’ leader, he sent out a message to all of his supporters.

The Canadiens would end up beating the Tavares-less Maple Leafs 2-1 on Thursday and will look to pull off the upset against a Toronto team that had Stanley Cup aspirations.

Maybe the Maples Leafs can re-focus now that they know their captain is in good spirits.

Hopefully we see John Tavares back on the ice soon. That was one of the scariest injuries we’ve seen in a very long time.
