Joe Flacco Doesn’t Sounds Like A Guy Who’s Content Backing Up Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles appear to be entering a rebuild. The team has swung and missed on too many players in the NFL Draft and free agency. With that being said, they’ll use this year (where there are no expectations) to see what they have with quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The Jets even brought in veteran Joe Flacco to help mentor the young Hurts. Although, Flacco doesn’t really sound like he’s too interested in being the backup in Philly.

The 36-year-old Flacco is a former Super Bowl MVP, and he sounds like a guy who feels like he wants to prove something still.

“Your goal as a football player is to show people around you that you can play football,” Flacco said, according to Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal.

Flacco didn’t diss Jalen Hurts, and he said he was prepared to help out the kid, but he sounds like he has bigger plans than to be a mentor. And why not? The Eagles are going to be awful, and I’m not sold on Jalen Hurts whatsoever.

It wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if the Eagles turned into a team that’s willing to let Joe Flacco show he has something left in the tank. It might be the only way for the team to stay relevant.
