The LAPD officers who tased Jaxson Hayes following a potential domestic violence call are being investigated for excessive force following the video release

Earlier today, the video of police tasing New Orleans Pelican guard Jaxson Hayes was released by TMZ.

The video starts with a scuffle on the ground between Hayes and the police officers, before he gets tased and handcuffed.

The video doesn’t have all the moments from the Jaxson Hayes arrest, but shows a lot of aggression from police officers even as Hayes is seemingly defenseless.

According to TMZ Sports, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michael Moore announced that he was launching an investigation to find out if the police officers who arrived on scene used excessive force when dealing with Jaxson Hayes.

Police say they received a call early on July 28 about a potential domestic violence situation involving Jaxson Hayes.

When police arrived on scene they say that Hayes was the aggressor with them, and that he continuously tried to enter the home even after being told by officers not to.

“Body worn video captured Hayes repeatedly attempting to enter the residence despite officers blocking his path and verbal commands for him to remain outside.

“Officers requested a backup and they attempted to place Hayes’ hands behind his back; however, Hayes broke free of the officers’ grasp and pushed one of the officers into a wall,” the LAPD said in a statement.

Jaxson Hayes was treated for minor injuries before being booked.
