The New York Mets Have Gotten The Full Javier Baez Experience This Week

The New York Mets proved they were going for it at the Trade Deadline by acquiring Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez.

In Baez’s first week with his new team he has come exactly as advertised. Javy has had moments of brilliance, and moments of downright awful baseball.

During the Mets’ series against the Marlins, Baez showed his new fan base what Cubs fans have been seeing for the past seven years.

On Thursday, Javier Baez put the team on his back, using a patented swim move slide to score a run, and also blasting a game-winning home run late in the game.

On Friday, it was a different story altogether for Javier Baez.

In his five plate appearances, Javy struck out each time, earning himself the “platinum sombrero”.

Javier Baez’s debut for the Mets has been pretty underwhelming if you look at the stats. Since the trade he’s 4-25 and has 10 strikeouts.

 

But he has played a critical role in the team’s two wins since he’s come over, and he’s proven time and time again that he’s a guy who can carry a baseball team when he gets hot.

Right now, he’s not there yet. But if the Mets want to make a run this season, they’re likely going to need the good version of Javier Baez.
