James Harden Trade Talks Heat Up as Season Nears

James Harden continues to demand a trade out of Houston, and more teams are building packages to acquire the former MVP. The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers have long been attached to Houston Rockets trade rumors, while the Miami Heat are reportedly also on the star’s list of acceptable destinations.

According to ESPN’s report, several teams in both conferences are finding “increased comfort” in creating a trade for Harden, including numerous potential playoff squads. The Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets are currently stalled in trade talks, after earlier reports revealed Brooklyn was willing to offer Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen and all the draft picks and swaps possible.

The Philadelphia 76ers, currently run by former Houston GM Daryl Morey, is still in the running for the Harden sweepstakes. Ben Simmons would have to be included in the trade, which both sides have agreed on, but no further progress has been made beyond that.

The Miami Heat is a third team on Harden’s desired list of teams. Rumors emerged earlier that sophomore phenom Tyler Herro was not “untouchable” in trade talks. With Giannis Antetokounmpo staying in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future, Pat Riley and the Heat might swing for a star through a trade to capitalize on their championship window with Jimmy Butler.

As for Houston, the franchise is in no rush to move its star despite the situation spiraling out of their control.
