Jameis Winston Gives Humbling Speech to Youth Football Camp

New Orleans Saints Quarterback Jameis Winston knows what it’s like to be on top of the world, and he also knows what rock bottom looks like. Winston opened up about his NFL career to the kids at the youth camp. It was an impressive speech from the former Bucs Quarterback, he showed plenty of humility.

“I went from being the No. 1 draft pick to everybody laughing at me,” Winston said. “But guess what? I’m about that business. I’m outworking everyone at my position.”

“I look at every day is an opportunity to get better to be the best quarterback that can be and that’s how I’m approaching this opportunity,” Winston said in a conference call last month. “Because I know I’m a winner, I know I love to play some football and I’m ready to lead this team and serve this team any way that I can.

“So we can win football games and bring some excitement to the city. I know people in the city got the same love and passion that I got. I know that, so I’m excited. That’s why I hope we can get some fans (back). I hope we can get some normalcy back in that city. Because I know that city is going to stand up and I’m ready.”

During an interview earlier this year, Winston talked about how he changed his approach.

“I never wanted to be deemed a game manager,” Winston said on the ‘Huddle & Flow’ podcast. “But really, that game manager is not a bad piece. That’s something that I think just comes with being a professional quarterback. Being able to not just only do the things that you can do, but being able to do the things that you should not do — like what not to do versus what can I do.”

If Jameis can get out his own way, he could easily be one of the best QB’s in the league.

He has all the tools to be great.
