Jake Arrieta Getting Blasted By Fans After Getting Shelled In His Debut With Padres

Jake Arrieta was unsurprisingly shelled in his start for the San Diego Padres on Wednesday and social media was blowing up with jokes

The Jake Arrieta reunion with the Chicago Cubs didn’t go according to plan this season.

After his ERA skyrocketed to over 6 with the club, the rebuilding Cubs made the decision to give Arrieta his outright release following his last start.

As luck would have it, Arrieta immediately got another chance with a San Diego Padres team who has seen their starting rotation get decimated by injuries in recent weeks.

Arrieta took the ball for the Padres at Coors Field on Wednesday afternoon. And as expected, it didn’t go well. Jake was roughed up to the tune of 5 ER over 3.1 innings of work.

When Jake Arrieta was leaving the game with an apparent injury, social media blew up with jokes at the expense of the former Cy Young Award winner.

Fans didn’t stop there with the Jake Arrieta hate.

It’s still unclear what Jake Arrieta’s exact injury with the Padres is (if anything).

After signing with the Phillies following his Cubs tenure in 2018, Arrieta’s career has taken a turn for the worse. And 2021 might be the final nail in the coffin.

I’d be shocked if the Padres let Jake Arrieta start another game for them. And I might be just as shocked if a team gives the veteran a chance to continue his MLB career next season.
