Longtime Iowa men’s basketball player Jordan Bohannon was reportedly the victim of assault while out at a bar over the weekend. The program made the initial announcement that Bohannon received a ‘serious head injury’ early Sunday morning.

“Thankfully Jordan is recovering well after being attacked by an individual he did not see coming at him,” Iowa head basketball coach Fran McCaffery said in a statement. “We were made aware of the incident immediately. We are grateful that friends who were with Jordan at the time kept the incident from escalating. His health is our number one concern.”

The program didn’t have many details other than saying that Bohannon has been treated, and is recovering. But According to Mitch Fick of Iowa News Now, the Iowa City police department is looking into an alleged assault in front of DC’s bar around closing time that same night.

Bohannon recently thrilled Hawkeyes fans everywhere when he announced that he would be returning to the team next season.

Hopefully Jordan Bohannon recovers quickly. The late night bar scenes on a college campus can be a scary place sometimes.
