Jay Williams Brutally Calls Ime Udoka ‘First Head Coach Of Color For The Celtics’

NBA analyst Jay Williams is getting heavily mocked after tweeted that Ime Udoka was "first head coach of color" in Celtics history

On Wednesday afternoon, it was revealed that Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics were in agreement with Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Ime Udoka to be their next head coach.

Shortly after the Ime Udoka hire was announced, NBA analyst Jay Williams took to Twitter to congratulate the longtime assistant on the new gig. But he made a colossal mistake in the tweet.

“First head coach of color for the Celtics,” Jay Williams wrote about Ime Udoka.

Bill Russell, Doc Rivers, KC Jones, ML Carr, and Tom Sanders were all head coaches of color who had the head coaching job with the Celtics before Ime Udoka.

Even LeBron James couldn’t believe that Jay Williams actually said that.

While Ime Udoka might not be the first head coach of color for the Celtics, he is still breaking barriers. Udoka is now the first Nigerian-born head coach in NBA history.

Maybe that’s what Jay Williams meant? Yeah, probably not.
