Graeme Souness Feels Timo Werner Is To Be Blamed For Frank Lampard’s Axe

Graeme Souness has launched a scathing attack on Chelsea striker Timo Werner.

The former Liverpool gaffer had clearly put it that Werner had played a part in the dismissal of erstwhile Blues manager, Frank Lampard.

Werner, signed from RB Leipzig in the summer of last year for some £47.5 millions have now failed to find the net in as many as 14 games league games after firing blanks against Sheffield last night.

Souness, speaking on Sky Sports after the game at Bramall Lane, hung the 24-year-old up as the reprobate.

“I’m yet to be convinced. Chelsea are a team that’s full of really good players with big technique.

“They get into the last third time and time again and they will wonder what he is doing. They need more from him.

“Put it this way, if he had done the business, Frank would still be in a job.”

Werner, however thinks he’d eventually come good. He did grab two assists at Sheffield and things might start looking up. It’s just about him putting in the goals himself, isn’t it?

“For myself, still no goal but it’s good to see I can help the team with other things at the moment”, he said after his latest act.

“I am happy when we win and when I can make two assists but as a striker you want to score.”

Souness feels he should be scoring really. And Lampard could still be coaching Chelsea now but for his profligacy.
