Giannis Makes Decision about NBA Future, Breaks NBA

Giannis Antetokounmpo announced he signed an extension with the Milwaukee Bucks for five years, $228 million with an opt-out after the fourth year.

After much speculation, Antetokounmpo signed his super-max extension before the December 21 deadline.

This news became more predictable due to other star athletes signing their extensions. Anthony Davis originally wanted to wait to sign his five-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers until Antetokounmpo made his decision. When Davis decided to sign the dotted line on Dec. 3, the writing was on the wall for the Greek Freak.

This comes after a busy offseason where Milwaukee improved their backcourt by acquiring former All-Star Jrue Holiday from New Orleans and trying to acquire Sacramento forward Bogdan Bogdanovich before he spurned the deal in favor of signing with Atlanta.

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks still have a lot of work ahead of them in order to make the franchise’s first NBA Finals appearance since 1974, but locking down the two-time reigning MVP was an absolute must.

Giannis tweeted out his thoughts on staying with Milwaukee after the news broke.

The Bucks take on the Celtics to kick off their season Dec 23.
