Giannis Antetokounmpo set fire to the NBA world earlier in the week when he signed a supermax deal to stay with the Milwaukee Bucks. While many were speculating that Giannis was plotting his next move after his contract with Milwaukee was due to expire at the end of the season, he proved them all wrong. Giannis is happy in Milwaukee. Well, happy enough at least.
Giannis was asked why he decided to sign his extension with the Bucks, and he admitted that the Milwaukee fans’ perception of him played a part.

“I’ve seen people leave and they burn their jerseys,” Giannis Antetokounmpo declared. “I didn’t want that to happen to me.”
Giannis added what his goals are for the rest of his career in Milwaukee.
“Have kids and have a championship,” he said via Total Pro Sports.“It’s tough. Nowhere guarantees a championship. It might take me ten years to win a championship.”
“I hope my grandkids build a frickin statue for me,” he added moving even further into the future, “I hope they do that shit.”
Giannis is a good guy, maybe too good. I’m not sure worrying about fans burning your jersey should play a part in your decision to stay with a franchise, but all the power to him.
The Milwaukee Bucks should have a chance to win a NBA Championship sometime in the near future. Giannis is one of the best players in the game, and they have consistently been one of the best regular season teams in the league over the past few seasons. We’ll see if Giannis and the Bucks can make the next leap this season.
