Sometimes a name is everything.

One basketball player got plenty of attention on Tuesday night due to his name. ESPN2 aired a game between the G League Ignite and Metropolitans 92, which is a team that plays in France’s highest-tier league. The game was billed as a showcase between Scoot Henderson and Victor Wembanyama, who are among the top prospects for the 2023 NBA Draft. But it was another player who everyone ended up talking about on Social Media.   The Metropolitans have a player named Steeve Ho You Fat.

That’s not some sort of nickname, that’s his actual birth name.

Ho You Fat is a 34-year-old forward from Cayenne, French Guiana. He is in his second season with the Metros and averaging 2.7 points per game this season. Not exactly noteworthy.

Once fans caught wind of his last name,  social media took to it to another level.

Now that’s a name you won’t forget anytime soon.

Henderson led the Ignite to a 122-115 win over Wembanyama and Metropolitans 92 at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada. Henderson finished the game with 28 points, 9 assists and 2 steals, while Wembanyama put up 37 points, five blocks and four rebounds.

The teams will play again Thursday (3 p.m. ET, ESPN2, NBA app).

Hopefully Ho You Fat will once again make an appearance.
