Former Texans Coach Calls J.J. Watt ‘Selfish’

Arizona Cardinals fans are in a celebratory mood after it was surprisingly announced that veteran edge rusher J.J Watt would be joining the team in free agency.

It was heavily reported that the Watt sweepstakes was down to three teams, the Browns, Bills and Packers. Those fanbases are now (understandably) upset that they missed out on an impact player. However, former Buffalo Bills receiver and current member of the media dropped a little tidbit on J.J. Watt to try to make fans feel better.

According to Reed, a former Texans coach said Watt was not a team-first kind of player.

“FWIW Bills fans: I spoke to someone who was on the Texans coaching staff with Watt and the review wasn’t glowing. “He’s selfish, only cared about his stats”, “he does a lot of things that hurts the defense”, “he hurt us more than he helped us”, and finally “I wouldn’t want him,” Reed said on Twitter.

Now, the Houston Texans have had a bad track record of some pretty terrible coaches in their recent history. It’s pretty well-known that J.J. Watt was not a fan of Bill O’ Brien, who has a pretty poor reputation around the league. It’s possible that whoever said this was just trying to get some revenge on Watt.
I’d take this comment with a grain of salt. J.J. Watt should fit in great with the Arizona Cardinals.
