Former NBA player Royce White is starting his political career with a bang.

On Tuesday night, he announced via Twitter that he had his eyes on challenging Democrat Ilhan Omar for Minnesota’s fifth congressional U.S. representative seat.

In the two minute clip, the 30 year old Royce White announced his candidacy and showed many clips of people speaking on his high character from his playing days.

“Ten years ago, I took on the NBA and the establishment,” he said in his video monologue. “I said that mental health was one of the greatest issues we face. And I was willing to give up my dream to fight for people I have never met. I took the lead when others wouldn’t.

In the video, Royce White would go on to slam Ilhan Omar for her globalist views while declaring her a “puppet” for the establishment politicians who have us in a bad place as a country.

”I’m running for Congress because our leaders have sold us out,” he said. ”We have to fight for freedom, we have to protect our communities. We have to restore what it means to be an American citizen.”

Royce White was a star at Iowa State during the 2011-12 season, and got drafted 16th overall by the Rockets. He would only play one season in the league, appearing in three games for the Kings.

During his college and NBA career, White was outspoken about his anxiety and mental health issues, as well as other injustices going on around the world.

Royce White has worked closely with former Donald Trump strategist, Steve Bannon, in the past. And based on his appearance in the Twitter clip, it appears the two are still close friends.
