Yes, you read that right. 218 home runs. Alexander Peralta AKA “El Peo” from the Dominican Republic hit 218 home runs in a Home Run Derby over the weekend. The former Pittsburgh Pirate not only hit 218, but 179 straight in the first two rounds.
Sounds impossible, but it’s true.

Alexander Peralta played in the Minor Leagues for the Pirates from 2004 to 2006. In 2004 and 2005 he played in the Gulf Coast League (Rookie League), where he hit averages of .343 and .336, respectively.

In 2006 he was promoted to Class A with the Williamsport Crosscutters team of the New York Pennsylvania League (NYPL), where he hit .238 in 50 games. The following year (2007) the Pirates released him.
Peralta was on the @EOBASEBALLCLUB roster in the Dominican Winter League.

That sounds like something Pete Alonzo wouldn’t even be able to do.
