The Chicago Bears have a rich history in the NFL. Throughout that history, the have endured winning seasons, losing seasons, and everything in between. Through it all Bears fans and alumni stay loyal to their team. Why? Because it just seems to mean a little bit more in Chicago. That’s why the Bears latest collapse is so disheartening for so many people.

After starting out the season 5-1, Matt Nagy’s team has lost six straight games, including their abysmal fourth quarter collapse yesterday to the Detroit Lions. Now, former players have joined fans in calling for a complete overhaul, from top to bottom.

The Chicago Bears value the opinion of their former players. So much so, that they often keep them around, and consider them a part of the Bears family. For former Bears greats to speak out against what is happening at Soldier Field means something. They’re embarrassed, and Bears fans are embarrassed.

If I’m Bears chairman George McCaskey, I’m listening to what these former players have to say when I’m considering making my next move.

Matt Nagy, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to think his job is on the line. Here’s what the disgruntled head coach had to say about his job security today.

Matt Nagy might think he still has a shot to keep his job, but that ship has to have sailed. After going 12-4 in 208 it has all been downhill for the Chicago Bears. That is an indictment on Nagy, on general manager Ryan Pace, team president Ted Phillips, and the players.

It might be time to clean house in Chicago.
