University of Iowa senior basketball player Jordan Bohannon was physically assaulted early Sunday morning in Iowa City, according to a Monday university news release. Bohannon is recovering after receiving medical attention to treat a serious head injury, the university said.

UI associate athletic communications director Matt Weitzel told the Cedar Rapids Gazette on Monday night that no charges had been filed. “An investigation is ongoing,” Weitzel said.

Bohannon was granted a medical redshirt for the 2019-20 season when he missed most of the season due to hip surgery.
