Louis Riddick is all of the sudden a hot commodity among NFL teams and their fans. With a few general manager spots already opening up around the league (and more likely to follow), Riddick has emerged as a prime candidate.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, The Detroit Lions have plans to interview Louis Riddick for their GM opening, and the Texans could also seek out an interview with the Monday Night Football analyst for later in the week.
The #Lions plan to interview GM candidate Louis Riddick for their vacant job on Friday, source said. The current broadcaster last worked in the NFL in 2013 in the #Eagles front office. The first known external candidate to be interviewed by Detroit.

While Riddick has no prior general manager experience, the current analyst does have a history working within NFL organizations.
Riddick started as a safety in the NFL, but quickly pivoted into a front office role after teams starting to pick up on his knowledge on the game.
He got his start in Washington as a scout in 2001 before working his way up to become the team’s director of pro personnel from 2005-2007. After that, Riddick moved to Philadelphia where he also went from a scout to director of pro personnel from 2010-2013.
This guy isn’t just a talking head, he’s a legitimate football man, who knows the game like the back of his hand. He’s easily the best MNF analyst we’ve had in years, and it looks like he could be well on his way to running football ops with his own organization.
As a Bears fan, I would take Louis Riddick as my GM over Ryan Pace any day of the week.
