Dick Vitale Went On A Long Twitter Rant About The CBB Transfer Portal

Dick Vitale had a message for North Carolina students after they directed a vulgar chant at Coach K during his last game at Chapel Hill

Add Dick Vitale to the list of commentators complaining about the rules of the NCAA. Dick Vitale is one of the loudest people on TV and he got loud on Twitter on Friday morning. Vitale went on an epic Twitter rant about college basketball players who choose to transfer, comparing it to divorce. The NCAA is about to change the rule that forces players to sit out a year before dressing for a new team. As you can imagine, it is going to throw a curveball at the recruiting process. Dick Vitale certainly isn’t happy about it. See for yourself what he had to say about it.

“Solve the argument & have the VBDI (Vitale bald dome index )rule that would state coaches can leave w/o sitting & players can not easily. If a coach leaves or is fired allow players on those teams the right to transfer w/o having to sit out for 1 yr.”, Vitale Tweeted.

That was just the beginning of his rant. Someone should have taken his phone away from him right then and there because it didn’t stop for several more tweets.

There is quite a bit to unpack from Dick Vitale’s Twitter rant. I think the most important thing is that is crucial to remember that these players are student-athletes. The student part should always come first. There should be no rules penalizing a student that decides that it is in their best interest to transfer. I understand that the rule has been in place this long to try and maintain parity in the league, however, what doesn’t get talked about enough is how it impacts the students academically.

Dick Vitale obviously feels some type of way about students transferring. I am not quite sure what sparked the rant, but I feel like he needs to rethink his sentiments. Also, Dick Vitale should really think about hiring someone to tweet for him because that showing was absolutely brutal.
