Deshaun Watson Reportedly Won’t Be Deposed Until 2022

According to Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, the FBI has been checking in on the sexual assault allegations centered around Texans QB Deshaun Watson

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is unsurprisingly not present at the team’s OTAs this week while he deals with over 20 lawsuits of sexual assault against him.

Watson has not been reprimanded by the league, but the timeliness of the allegations has put a wrench in Deshaun’s plans to demand a trade from the Texans. After the lawsuits began to come in, teams have been wary of attempting to be trade for the superstar QB.

Now, it’s looking like Deshaun Watson will have to wait even longer before his NFL career can resume. According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, settlements are not expected in the Deshaun Watson lawsuits. And it might take until 2022 for a deposition to occur.

Earlier in the week, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared that Deshaun Watson has no plans to return to the Houston Texans, even if he were to play in the NFL while dealing with the lawsuits.

“Deshaun Watson won’t attend OTAs and still wants to be traded, per sources. Watson has denied wrongdoing related to recent lawsuits, which have slowed the process of sorting out his future. But his position hasn’t changed: Watson wants out of Houston,” he reported on Monday afternoon via The Spun.

The Texans signed Tyrod Taylor, and drafted Stanford quarterback Davis Mills in the offseason, so it appears like they’ll move forward under the assumption that Deshaun Watson will not be playing quarterback for them next season.

Will Deshaun Watson play for anyone in 2021? Time will tell.
