Derek Carr and Jon Gruden have ben tied together since Gruden signed on as the head coach of the Raiders prior to the 2018 season.
But after Gruden was forced to turn in his resignation following an investigation that revealed some racist, misogynistic, homophobic emails, Carr will now be pinned with another coach for the first time in a while.

On Wednesday, Derek Carr spoke on the conflicting emotions he was going through when processing the Jon Gruden situation.
“I hate the action, but I love the person,” Carr said of his former head coach Wednesday, via The Athletic’s Vic Tafur.

Derk Carr would expand on what was going through his head. But re-iterated the “love” he has for his former coach.
“It’s hard because I love the man so much,” Carr added, per Levi Damien of The Raiders Wire. “I have family members that have done things… I think more than anything coach needs people to love him… but at the same time what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong.”
Through the first few games of the 2021-22 season, Jon Gruden had Derek Carr and the Raiders offense rolling. But after a letdown against the Bears last week, the Raiders fell to 3-2, and suddenly looked like the same mediocre team we’ve been seeing for the past few years.
It certainly feels like a tall task to expect the Raiders to bounce back amid all this mid-season turmoil.
