Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green recently opened up on how he saw Ben Simmons struggle with a lot of things on and off the court during his heavily scrutinized season.

This week, Green has another admission – he doesn’t care for how Philly fans treat the team when things aren’t going so well.

Danny Green shared his honest take during an appearance on the Takeoff with John Clark podcast.

“I love our fans, but when things aren’t going well, they can’t turn on you,” Green said, via NBC Sports. “That’s the one thing I would disagree with or dislike. Some guys use it as motivation, some guys have a chip on their shoulder, but I think that needs to change. They need to be riding with us, regardless of how things are going.”

Danny Green would go on to say that the culture in Philadelphia needs to change.

“We’re the No. 1 team in the East, still playing well, and in some games they’ll boo us – that’s part of the culture here, part of their way of showing they love us – but with a guy like Ben, and other guys, I think they need to stick behind them and stick by them as long as they can, until the horn blows,” Green continued.

Fans didn’t exactly care for Danny Green throwing them under the bus.

Danny Green might not have made too many friends in Philly with these comments. But he’s putting his reputation on the line to back his teammate. That should say something about a guy you want on your team.

Philly fans have a reputation for being a little more harsh than others. But I wouldn’t expect that to change any time soon.

Maybe Ben Simmons’ next team will have some more forgiving fans.
