Dan Campbell’s Awesome Locker Room Speech Goes Viral Following Upset Win

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell was mic'd up for the team's opener against the 49ers on Sunday, and it was just as crazy as you'd expect

Nobody expected Dan Campbell’s Detroit Lions to beat the Super Bowl contending Cardinals on Sunday. But as Chris Berman Would say, “that’s why they play the game!”.

The Lions caused issues for MVP candidate Kyler Murray early and often. And at no point in the game did it feel like the Cardinals were going to come away with the win.

After the game, Dan Campbell gave an impassioned speech to his team that reminded all of us why we love him.

Here’s what he had to say to his jacked-up locker room via Bro Bible:

“Hey, I tell you what, we did everything we said we need to do to that team. We did everything. And I tell you what defense, you took it personal. Each three and out, man, and you guys are making them have to punt. We turn the ball over offensively, right? And then we, defensively—Amani (Oruwariye), two-four getting a turnover.

I’ll tell you what, offensively, man. We came after them early. We said we were going to be aggressive. We took some shots and we made them. We made our shots early and then we just started hammering them. Hell, our first drive was eight minutes man.

You guys are a tough, gritty group man. You’re a tough gritty group. You always have been. And now, you’re seeing it pay dividends. Man, look, a team gets one out, two out, we got multiple out, and multiple guys stepped up, and that’s what we’re capable of.”

At one point, it looked like Dan Campbell was going to lead the Lions to another winless season. But they’ve stuck together. And now have two wins on the season.

You really gotta tip your cap to Campbell – they hired him to get the most out of a shabby roster – and he has delivered.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Lions become under Dan Campbell in the future.
