Dallas Stars Want Everyone To Know That They Will Be Playing The National Anthem Despite Mavericks Controversy

07 March 2013: Dallas Stars logo during the NHL regular season game between the Dallas Stars and the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

The Dallas Stars found it necessary to announce that they still plan on playing the National Anthem. This comes as the sports world is locked in controversy after owner Mark Cuban opted not to play “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to the team’s homes games. Now, the NBA has sent out a memo forcing every NBA team to play the song before games.

Here’s what the Dallas Stars had to say about the matter.

“The playing of the national anthem is a time-honored tradition and the Dallas Stars will continue to perform the Star-Spangled Banner prior to our games at American Airlines Center. As the only National Hockey League team in Texas, we are proud to represent our state and our country,” the Stars out in a tweet.

Thank you Stars, what would the city of Dallas do without you? In all seriousness, I found this PR move to be extremely peculiar. We all know that the Stars will play the anthem. If they didn’t, it would be a story.

They basically just sent out statement to try to gain some positive PR amongst Texas folk, along with swinging their political views around.

We get it , Dallas Stars. Nobody asked about where you guys stand on the matter…but now we all know.
