New Dak Prescott Video Highlights His Recovery Status

Dak Prescott is back to throwing after his season-ending ankle injury last October. A video emerged Wednesday of the Cowboys franchise quarterback working out and throwing quick screen passes. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Prescott is expected to be ready for Cowboys training camp but noted the team is not going to put him in “harm’s way” during upcoming organized team activities. Check out the latest video of Dak Prescott below.

The video isn’t much, but it is a step in the right direction for Dak Prescott. Cowboys fans should be encouraged by the progress he has made thus far. It only makes sense for the Cowboys to move forward with caution. Prescott underwent multiple surgeries in an effort to speed up the recovery process. Rapoport noted he even hinted at his improved condition and mobility by suggesting he should jump up on the table during the press conference to announce his new contract. However, that contract is the same reason Dallas figures to take things slow.

The Cowboys signed Prescott to a four-year, $160 million deal prior to the deadline for the franchise and transition tags, officially making him the franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. The Cowboys will look to build around him as they continue to monitor his health.

Dak Prescott got off to a terrific start in 2020 for the Cowboys, completing 68.4 percent of his attempts for 1,856 yards and nine touchdowns in his first five games. He led all quarterbacks with 7.72 net yards gained per pass attempt during that stretch, also rushing 18 times for 93 yards and three scores and even catching a touchdown pass.

The Cowboys will ease Dak Prescott back into motion ahead of training camp. All expectations are that he will be under center for the 2021 season. The Cowboys will continue to monitor Dak Prescott as he continues to make progress in the rehabilitation process.
