The third generation in the Manning family football tree is about to embark on his very own journey. Arch Manning, son of Cooper, is currently the #1 quarterback prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

And so far, he’s taking his recruiting choice slow, gauging several different options.

Last we heard, Arch Manning was down to two options to play his college ball. According to a report from college football analyst Brent Beaird Manning is likely to choose either Texas or Alabama.

“I think two places that he would go, I think he’s going to Texas or Alabama,” Beaird said on a radio appearance on Offsides With Marc Ryan. “David Cutcliffe is very close to the Mannings, and there has been talk and reports about Cutcliffe going to Texas as an analyst… That would have a lot to do with him going to Texas believe me.”

Cooper Manning joined Chris Fowler’s podcast, and spoke on how the way recruiting has changed due to NIL in the last couple of years won’t affect his sons’ decision.

“The whole game of college football seems to have changed in the past three to four months,” Cooper Manning said. “With the coaches moving around a lot more freely, the element of these big signing bonuses for classes and everything. No one sits around and says, ‘I’m going to be a backup and work for it for two to three years.’ It’s onto the next thing.’”

” …. (With Arch) we’re trying to do things like they used to be done, back 15 years ago. Just go pick a school you like, coaches you like, a place you think you’d be happy if you weren’t playing football. Get a good education, make friends and try your best. I know it sounds kind of simple and howdy doody. But I think sometimes people get a little ahead of themselves. These are 18-year-old boys you’re trying to turn into men. And I think whoever can do that the best is probably going to get the guy.”

No matter what, Arch Manning will be making a lot of money with NIL deals. But if Cooper Manning’s comments mean anything, it’s that all of that won’t be a factor when it’s time to pick a school.
