It just wouldn’t be a UFC pay-per-view without a Conor McGregor sighting! MMA fans were treated to just that during and after Saturday night’s main event fight between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261 in Jacksonville.
Usman managed to knockout Masvidal in the second round to retain his UFC Welterweight Championship. It was his second win over Masvidal in less than a year. Usman remains the top dog at 170 pounds.

Well, according to the @TheNotoriousMMA, Kamaru Usman would be nothing if he didn’t steal his style. Conor McGregor full-on accused the champ of copying his moves, his smack talk, everything!

But don’t take my word for it:
Usman even copying my shots now. Am I to fight this guy at some stage?
I think so. Can’t be copying my words and my shots and not get a smack for it. I like 170. It’s mine soon. pic.twitter.com/FEQgj9AsAy— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 25, 2021
Oh, yes Conor, YES! Give us more Conor!
Of course, The Notorious obliged. See the rest Twitter feed from during the UFC 261 main event below:

Okay, that last one is clearly just a shot at Jake Paul, who had his own UFC 261 moment on Saturday night. But it was worthy of inclusion all the same.
Back to the subject matter at hand here. The shots Conor McGregor fired on Twitter are just the continuation of prior accusations that Kamaru Usman stole his gimmick.
During his rise to become UFC Welterweight champ, Usman wasn’t known for being overly vocal. That has all changed with gold around his waist.
The “Nigerian Nightmare” is a bad, bad man. And he’s no longer afraid to say so. Hell, he warned Chad Johnson in advance that his $50k bet on Masvidal wasn’t going to pan out!
Mannn let’s get this shhhmoney!!! 👊🏿🌍🤴🏿 pic.twitter.com/dj1bHvimDn

The UFC is certainly going to embrace Usman being more vocal and adopting a swagger. But, I have to admit, that whole pre-fight look is eerily reminiscent…
Conor McGregor clearly wants a shot at Kamaru Usman and the welterweight belt. When such a fight could happen is unclear at this point.
McGregor first has to contend with Dustin Poirier in a massive trilogy bout set for UFC 264 in July. Having lost two of his last three fights, it’s also probably fair to say Conor NEEDS to win that fight if he wants any prayer of earning a shot at Usman’s belt.
Where this chirping goes from here remains to be seen. But in terms of stirring the pot and generating rumors and buzz, mission accomplished.
