Colin Cowherd is a funny guy, with funny takes. He’s known to be very out on Baker Mayfield. He just doesn’t like him. Doesn’t like him as a football player, or a person. With that being said, Cowherd’s take on Mayfield today was simply ridiculous.

I mean, sure, this is a big game for Baker Mayfield. The 8-3 Browns will have a chance to prove themselves against a Titans team that looks destined for another playoff run. It’s a ‘show me’ game, no doubt. But come on. To say that Baker Mayfield will be judged wholly on how he performs in this game when the Browns assess whether he’s the guy for the future is simply crazy.
It’s one game.
Even if Mayfield lays an egg, and the Browns lose, they’ll fall to 8-4. Still a pretty respectable mark. They would still have plenty of time to right the ship, and find a way into the playoffs. Mayfield would still have a chance to prove himself.
I’m sure if you told Browns fans that they would be 8-4 before the season, even with losing Odell Beckham Jr., they would be ecstatic. Colin Cowherd will never take it easy on Baker Mayfield, though. Mayfield could probably win a Super Bowl, and Cowherd would still have something to say.
You gotta love the rift, though. It makes for some entertaining television.
