Even after losing in the first round of the playoffs, it was a solid first season for Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones.
He led all rookie QBs with wins and completion percentage, and he appeared to build a good rapport with Pats OC Josh McDaniels.
Despite his solid year on paper, FS1 host Colin Cowherd was left pondering if Bill Belichick is going to be satisfied with Mac Jones for the long haul. After all, he was utterly outplayed by division rival, Josh Allen and the Bills on multiple occasions.
“Bill Belichick has always viewed players as pieces, parts. He doesn’t get emotional,” Cowherd saidon Monday. “He’s moved off great players, Pro Bowlers. He wanted to move off [Tom] Brady. He moved off [Jimmy] Garoppolo. [Josh] Allen in the last two games has been so devastating, unstoppable and jaw-dropping. Could Belichick, and this was a great defense, be thinking, ‘I probably gotta trade Mac Jones? Because if this is a gun fight, I’m not sufficiently armed.’”
Don't be surprised if the Patriots look to move Mac Jones…

Colin Cowherd was largely blasted by people on social media over his idea for Bill Belichick regarding Mac Jones.
Give me a break

Still with stupid take. Allen was supposed to sit rookie year, forced to play because Peterman was so bad. Allen was drafted, super raw with a limitless ceiling. Bills developed his skills, looking to his 3rd year to take the leap. Don't ever compare your game manager to Allen.

Dumbest tweet / comment you will see the entire year. No wonder @ColinCowherd has such bed ratings, lol. What a past time joke. https://t.co/6WnGwkPoZG

Have these idiots truly run out of valid topics to talk about? Maybe we need to thin the herd on how many "experts" and "analysts" we allow to air this kind of bullshit. https://t.co/h8e3BwfagM

I gotta side with the masses on this Colin Cowherd/Mac Jones take. The rookie quarterback will not be traded this offseason. And I think Bill Belichick will like having the luxury of having his QB on a rookie contract when figuring out how he’s going to fill the other holes on his roster within the salary cap.
Jones finished the season with 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Going forward, the Patriots will hope to develop Mac Jones into a guy who can continue to grow in their system.
