Analyst Chris Simms Doesn’t Think Trevor Lawrence Is The Best Quarterback In The Draft

Matt Gajewski breaks down the top quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft with players like Trevor Lawrence getting drafted in the first round.

It’s a foregone conclusion that Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be drafted first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Most analysts think Lawrence is a once in a generation type of talent. He has the size, speed, arm strength, and has a track record of winning. A slam dunk, right?

Not so fast, one NFL analyst wouldn’t draft Trevor Lawrence first overall. NBC Sports’ Chris Simms says he would go with BYU’s Zach Wilson over Lawrence.

Say what you want about this take, but Chris Simms has a pretty good track record of rankings quarterbacks prior to the NFL Draft.

Chris Simms doesn’t necessarily knock Trevor Lawrence by taking Zach Wilson over him. He just thinks there is a lot more special talent with Wilson. Simms even compares Zach Wilson to Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. High praise.

I think Wilson will end up going to the New York Jets after Trevor Lawrence is taken first. Their career will forever be compared and debated after that. Chris Simms might be the only analyst who thinks Wilson has more upside, and that should be good news for Jets fans.
