The Jacksonville Jaguars were facing heavy scrutiny after hiring former Iowa strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle to be a part of Urban Meyer’s staff. Doyle was let go from his job at Iowa after allegedly making racist remarks to the players.

After being the talk of the sports world, Doyle has now decided to resign.

“Chris did not want to be a distraction to what we are building in Jacksonville,” Urban Meyer said in a statement. “We are responsible for all aspects of our program and, in retrospect, should have given greater consideration to how his appointment may have affected all involved.”

It was kind of shocking that Urban Meyer even hired Chris Doyle in the first place. When trying to build up an organization from scratch, it’s probably not the best move to bring in guys with a checkered past. Chris Doyle certainly has no place in college football, and I don’t think many people wanted to see him in the NFL either.

It’s hard to imagine that Chris Doyle will land a job somewhere else anytime soon.
