Oakland A’s pitcher Chris Bassitt was the cause of a lot of concern around MLB circles last week when he took a line drive to the face during a game.

Bassitt would be carted off the field and taken to the nearest hospital while teammates and opposing players watched the scene unravel in horror.

Luckily, Chris Bassitt remained ‘stable’ throughout the whole process.

On Tuesday, the A’s announced that Chris Bassitt has undergone successful surgery to repair bones in his face.

“Chris is stable and resting comfortably and will have follow-up appointments upon his arrival to Oakland,” the team said in a statement.
“The A’s anticipate Bassitt will return to the Bay Area later this week,” the team added

According to several different reports, Chris Bassitt remains in good spirits, and will now focus on what will likely be a lengthy recovery.

Given how scary the injury looked at first, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all thankful this wasn’t any worse for Chris Bassitt.
