Chicago remains one of the only cities that has not given the go ahead for fans to re-enter stadiums for the NBA and the NHL. With both respective seasons wrapping up, it seems like a foregone conclusion that fans will have to wait until next year to get back to the United Center to enjoy a Bulls or Blackhawks game. However, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot revealed today that she expects fans back at the United Center THIS season.
At a just concluded news conference, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said: "I expect before season's end there will be fans in the United Center."

Fans are a little bit confused, being as the Bulls and Hawks only have a handful of games left.

HAHA LMFAO Theres 7 home games left & the 23 other US teams have had fans in their stadiums for weeks because their politicians weren’t concerned about only opening stadiums that they could make an extra buck off of due to new COVID regulations & fines. Our(All) politicians suck! https://t.co/vgYypOFkUI

The only arena that isn’t allowing fans into the games in the United States. Glad the fans are going to be allowed in when the hawks are officially eliminated from the playoffs. https://t.co/x8zuqYFR8d

It seems like Chicago fans are thinking this is just too little too late. The Blackhawks are going to need a miracle if they want to earn a playoff spot, and the Bulls are currently in position to be a part of the play-in tournament, which would mean their games would be on the road.
Maybe Lori Lightfoot and Chicago politicians should have made moves sooner, when fans actually had some hope about the Bulls and Blackhawks.
