The 4-1 start to the season has Chicago Bulls fans everywhere hopeful for the first time in a a very long time. But on Friday, the team received some brutal news on the injury front.

Young power forward Patrick Williams suffered a dislocated wrist during the loss to the Knicks on Thursday night. And he’ll likely be required to miss the remainder of the regular season.

Patrick Williams had started every game for the Bulls since being drafted out of Florida State last season. And while his scoring has yet to take off, Williams has proven himself to be a plus defender with a semi-high ceiling.

Bulls fans – knowing the loss of Williams will greatly affect their rotation – took to social media to voice their concern.

Patrick Williams is a key piece to the Bulls future, and their fan base knows it.

Right now, Chicago is expected to be a playoff team in the Eastern Conference. But to make the leap to start contending with teams like the Bucks and Nets, they’re going to need development out of their young talent. And Williams is the most vital piece to that equation.

Patrick Williams will now miss out on an entire development year. And the Bulls will be forced to use their role players to fill the void.
