Chicago Bears Defensive End Mario Edwards Jr. Being Accused Of Assaulting Pregnant Woman After She Refused Sex

Chicago Bears defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. is being accused of assault prior to his team’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

According to TMZ, prosecutors in North Carolina are moving forward in their case against Mario Edwards Jr. after a woman claims he got aggressive when she turned down his sexual advances.

The woman claims in documents that Edwards struck her and proceeded to drag her to the hotel elevator. She also claims to be pregnant.

Edwards Jr. has adamantly denied these claims.

“Mario Edwards doesn’t condone domestic violence. At no time did Mario Edwards do anything that raised to the level of domestic violence, or any violence,” Mario Edwards’ agent Peter Schaffer told TMZ.

Shaffer admitted there was a verbal altercations, but that Edwards, “Did what he’s been told. Walk away and de-escalate the situation.”

The Chicago Bears released a statement on the ongoing investigation.

“We are aware of the situation involving Mario Edwards, Jr. We are doing our due diligence to thoroughly review and understand the facts. We take any allegations of this nature very seriously, both internally and with the NFL.”

Edwards Jr. has been a nice surprise for the Chicago Bears defense. He registered two sacks against Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans last weekend.
