Charles Barkley Blames Sixers For The Whole Ben Simmons Situation

On "Inside The NBA" on TNT, Charles Barkley took a hilarious shot at James Harden while discussing the trade to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday

Charles Barkley has had enough of the Ben Simmons saga.

After demanding a trade in the offseason, Simmons reluctantly showed up to the team when he was in jeopardy of losing money. But after the point guard refused to participate in drills, he was kicked out of practice.

Now, Ben Simmons is receiving treatment for mental health issues – and has maintained that he won’t be taking the court in the near future.

When speaking on the matter, Charles Barkley said that the Sixers have no one to blame but themselves for continuing to recruit Simmons to return to the team.

“This dude has done everything he can not to be re-recruited,” Barkley said. “They started the season begging him to come back so they have massaged him. They wanted to go see him. He said ‘Don’t come see me’. He came and then he acted like a jerk in practice. They wanted him back. Then, because he wanted to get paid, he came back, and he started acting like a jerk and they kicked him out. They gave him another chance. They said ‘OK, you said you’ve got some issues’. He said ‘I don’t wanna see your guys’. They start fining him, now he’s back. They’ve bent over backwards to kiss this dude’s (expletive). Now it’s time they start kicking his (expletive).”

Charles Barkley is definitely not afraid to share his thoughts, and he wants the Sixers to stop coddling Ben Simmons.

However, if Philly wants to get a return for Simmons, he’ll likely have to play some minutes this season. And for Ben to get his trade wish, he’ll also likely have to show he’s still capable of being dominant in the NBA.

It feels like Ben Simmons is going to have to return to the Sixers rotation at some point. And talking heads such as Charles Barkley will be forced to continue speaking on the unique situation.
