Carmelo Anthony Appears To Be Back With The Braids

Carmelo Anthony is approaching his 18th season in the NBA. This will be Melo’s second year with the Portland Trailblazers. Last year Carmelo showed some signs of his old self averaging 15.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Now it looks like Carmelo Anthony is bringing back something about himself that every Melo fan loved: the braids. Melo took to Instagram early Monday morning to re-debut his braided look. Take a peek and see for yourself.

Let’s face it, Carmelo Anthony with braids was a different guy. He averaged 25 points a game in his NBA seasons with braids. That is significantly higher than last year or any recent year in his career. Melo will go down as one of the best braided players of all time. Easily. Unfortunately, we can’t expect to see that same guy at 37 years old. Or can we?

Maybe Carmelo Anthony had an epiphany and realized his secret sauce was in the braids all along. Who knows. One thing is for certain. Carmelo Anthony still wants to win a title. The Portland Trailblazers aren’t expected to be contenders in the West this year, however, maybe the return of braided Melo will give them the spark they didn’t know they needed.

Carmelo Anthony wouldn’t still be playing in the league if he didn’t still have big goals. Maybe the braids will revitalize his game and we will see the best version of Melo we have ever seen. I don’t expect that to be the case, but in the words of the great Kevin Garnett, “Anything is possible!”.
